Texture. Technology. Textiles. Teacher. These are the things that identify the many aspects of Cheryl’s sewing career. Cheryl is a fiber artist who loves heirloom sewing techniques made modern. When you think of heirloom sexists, you think of someone who looks like Cheryl, right?
She loved to do fabric manipulations to raise the surface of her quilts. Her work is often small .. think 6 inches square. She loves vintage linens and the modern quilt and art quilt movements. Basically, she is not your grandmother’s quilter.
She is on a mission to be unique and weird in the quilting world!

Working Weekly - Staying Inspired
This lecture will be presented at our banquet on Monday, May 20th, 2024
What’s the most commonly asked question of Cheryl when she makes a tiny quilt? “What are you going to do with it?” Follow her journey as an art quilter and hear the answers she has to that question! Find out how working weekly and working small can help you define your artistic vision and make you a better quilter. We will enjoy a PowerPoint presentation to see the small quilts in big detail and then view the quilts actual size in a literal “mini” trunk show.

Make a gorgeous dimensional flower quilt all by machine! You’ll learn how to create the quilted background and the gathered flowers and leaves in class. Everyone will ask you where you learned how to make such pretty flowers. Uses the gathering foot for your machine, and a couple stitches by hand to attach them.

Take the technology leap and put LED lights into an Artist Trading Card! Make an Artist Trading Card in class, and then light up with a LED! Learn a basic circuit, and a few more tricks to make your small art quilt shine. Kit includes nearly everything for the class, including electronics, just bring scissors!
