Prairie Star Quilt Guild 2026 Quilt Show Youth Quilters
Members of the Prairie Star Quilt Guild believe in supporting and promoting quilt makers of the next generation. The Youth Challenge blocks are made by young people, under the guidance of a guild member. Youth entrants are between the ages of 4-18.
Guidelines:
All Items are to be constructed by the student under the guidance of a guild member. The work can be an original design or based on an existing pattern. Additional embellishments may be used. Adhesives may be used, but there must be stitching. Either hand or machine stitches are acceptable.
There is a $5.00 entry fee, paid by the sponsoring guild member, entry must be submitted at the June or July guild meeting. The item must be submitted no later than the September meeting with both Sponsoring Guild Member & Youth Name pinned to the back of the work.
Registered Youths will receive free admission to the show along with entry for their adult chaperone.
For Challenge Blocks:
Youths should create a 12½” unfinished block (also known as a flimsy), but we will accept blocks 10”-14” in size.
For Finished Item:
Youths should create a finished item no larger than 45” x 60”. A quilt is defined as having three layers: top, batting, and backing, held together by stitching, which is distributed throughout the work. Tied Quilts are acceptable for Youth Display Quilts. Sleeves are required on all items larger than 24” x 24”.
